AADE Education Initiative Program -

Offshore Energy Center - Knowledge Box

Purpose

To provide educators a forum to effectively present the petroleum industry, and to inform students of the vast career opportunities in the field.

Description

A mobile exhibit showcasing the many aspects of the oil and gas industry. Includes teacher resources, hands-on activities and interactive lessons. Also included is a laptop computer and models of drill bits.

The exhibit will be delivered and picked via a courier service.

The exhibit will stay at the school approximately 30 days.

Statistics

So far of the students who have experienced the "Knowledge Box,"

  • 89% learned where oil comes from

  • 79% learned more about the petroleum
     industry

  • 75% learned something new about
    petroleum

  • The Knowledge Box will be exhibited in a
    projected 90 classrooms during the
    2003-2004 school year
