| From the President’s
Desk
The end of yet another AADE year is nearing and I
would like to review our significant accomplishments and commitment
to AADE’s mission and goals.
One of the most pleasing accomplishments is the rapid
growth of the AADE Knowledge Box program. The program is proving
to be so successful AADE may have difficulty fully funding this
adventure. This is a pleasant problem to have and I have full
confidence that when we reach that point, our industry will step up
to the plate and help AADE support this fine effort.
Soon to enhance the Knowledge Box program will be a
newly created “teacher’s manual”. Offshore Energy Center’s Ms.
Kristina Hardwick is the author of this manual and AADE will sponsor
its first publishing in the summer of 2005. The manual contains
multiple cross discipline lesson plans for teaching preK to 12th
grade students about the oil and gas industry.
AADE’s National Board of Directors recently completed
its 2005 Spring Technical Conference. Mr. Tim Marvel with Hughes
Christiansen put together a superb three day program that was a
resounding success with seventy-two papers presented and twenty-six
exhibitors. In addition, several AADE chapters sponsored the
attendance of over forty university students and ten professors from
seventeen different schools. There were also eleven high quality
university student poster project exhibits.
As I said in an earlier letter, several AADE chapters
currently support seven university Student Sections with the number
of student members approaching five hundred. After our successful
AADE Spring Technical Conference, it appears AADE chapters will soon
add three more. This program, like the Knowledge Box, is expanding
in an almost explosive growth rate and is exposing these future
drilling industry professionals to AADE early in their career. I
expect this program to generate a fine talent pool to draw from for
future AADE officers.
On a personal note, I want to recognize the National
Board of Directors, all of the local chapter officials, our web
master, our committee chair persons and countless volunteers that
make this organization the overwhelming success that it is. Their
efforts have made my job as president the last two years most
memorable and pleasant. I sincerely thank each and every one of you
for your hard work and support.
I encourage you to support your local AADE chapter
and the official publication of AADE, Hart Energy Publishing’s
Drilling magazine. And for the latest news and information on
your AADE Chapter, visit the AADE website at www.aade.org.
Your President
Andy Ellis
